Dear Steve:
It seems like only yesterday that we met with you and shared the preliminary house plans... yet as we check the calendar the actual date was the last week of December, 2005. My how time flies!
Our completed, beautiful home is a source of great pride and satisfaction and will provide us with years and years of enjoyment. As Kathleen and I learned, the reality of the building process is things don't "just happen," and you were key to bringing our dream of a home in Door County to fruition. First, you were very efficient at interpreting the plans and creating the estimate in "short order." I recall the fully detailed estimate was in our hands within 10 days; a most impressive turnaround, and a positive initial impression of your attention to your customers. We discussed your estimate with everyone we knew... friends, family, and the mortgage banker! And as you now know, we chose not to obtain a competitive bid. We simply took a deep breath, signed the contract with you and the construction began in early February. From our point of view, it was a bold step for two people who had never built a home before, and who lived 600 miles away in Ohio. But we trusted you, and we've never looked back.
We've mentioned a number of times, our complete satisfaction with your work, but want to summarize a few points that led to our satisfaction with Laubenstein Construction:
- We like the size of your organization. A total of eight individuals worked on our house from start to finish; not including various service contractors. We felt they took personal pride in the quality of their work on our home.
- Your entire staff is very customer oriented, and they were always attentive to any questions we raised.
- Your itemized schedule for building our house (provided to us in January) was absolutely accurate to include taking occupancy in late June.
- Your communication with us was proactive, responsive and timely, whether in person, phone, or via e-mail. You are an excellent listener, and took the time to explore our comments and questions to assure there were no surprises or potential misunderstandings. You gently prodded us to make decisions when necessary to keep the schedule on time, but we never felt pressured to make decisions we weren't ready to make.
- You have a keen eye for detail and where appropriate you made suggestions and provided options as we considered minor "tweaks" to the plans.
- We remain impressed that only one major change was made to the architect's plans; that being the addition of one window to the south side of the house. To us, this confirms that we had an excellent builder.
In closing, our experience having our home built by Laubenstein Construction was pleasant and rewarding. We are enjoying sharing our gorgeous Door County home with our friends and family. Would we build a home with your company again? Absolutely! Anytime, Anywhere! You and your staff simply do perfect work.
